OBITUARIES
RIP BungieNet, Myth III, & Tharsis Times
Crow's Bridge - After four years of great service to the Bungie community, the BungieNet Myth server was shut down in the wee hours of the morning on February 16th, 2002. Images of BungieNet's last moments can be found here, here, and here.
Originally launched in November 1997, BungieNet began serving Myth: The Fallen Lords netgames to audience of avid RTS gamers. Over the years the fun and freewheeling atmosphere of BungieNet welded the Bungie fan community into a veritable army of mindless minions slavishly waiting for the word from Bungie to throw off the chains of Mad Deadly Worldwide Gangster Communist Frankenstein Radio Earphone Slavery and usher in a new age of Bungie World Domination. While many mourn BungieNet's passing, Myth multiplayer goodness can still be found at MariusNet, so head on over and host a game of Creep on the Borderlands for old time's sake.
On a related note, Myth III The Wolf Age by Mumbo Jumbo and Take 2 Interactive arrived on this reporter's doorstep stillborn. Medical experts have determined the cause of death was haphazard administration and a tragically short testing cycle.
Lastly, it is with great sadness I must announce the demise of the Tharsis Times. With the implosion of Myth III and the closing of BungieNet, I feel it is time to move on. While this site may fade from memory, other sites like Myth Village and Myth@Bungie.Org will carry on the tradition.
I hope that you have enjoyed visiting here. It's been one helluva ride!

NEWS
Bungie Acquired by NecroSoft
Muirthemne - In a startling move today, the NecroSoft corporation announced it has acquired the Bungie Products and World Domination company. "It was a natural move for us," said Master 'Kill' Bates, president and head necromancer of NecroSoft.
Bungie is the sole producer of crystal balls, voodoo dolls, and dowsing wands in the Free Cities. According to the terms of the agreement, Bungie's employees will be relocated to new office crypts in Muirthemne. The move is scheduled to take place as soon as a forced march can be organized. Bungie president and head sorcerer, Jason 'Swift Hand' Jones, could not be reached for comment.
In a related story, the case of the Empire of Cath Bruig vs. NecroSoft entered its seventh year with more testimony by Steve 'Hard' Case, chief executive ossifier of Muirthemne Online. The Empire is using Case's testimony to back it's claims that an organized undead workforce would provide unfair competition to cottage industries and hedge wizards throughout the land.
Bungie was in the news three years ago when unsubstantiated claims were made that they used undead employees to make one of their products. That story can be found here.

The sequel, Myth: The Fallen and They Can't Get Up Lords, has had a rocky development history, surrounded by rumors of cost underruns, creeping defeatureitis, and a crippling lack of clean socks.
According to the literature, Myth: TFATCGUL will offer gamers a new twist on the popular Myth series. Read more about the sequel here.

War Biography Reissued
Covenant - After being out of print for the last seventy years, the biography of one of the great chroniclers of the wars, poena.dare, is being published in a new edition by Barns & Stables. Although not nearly as well known as the best selling Journal of the Legion, poena.dare's insightful work should be a standard item on any history buff's shelf. We are proud to offer excepts from three volumes here.

QUIZ
Quiz Returns from Dead
Tharsis - After an absence of over two years, the Journal of the Legion MythWiz Quiz returns to service to stun and confound friend and foe alike. Originally created and hosted at Myth@NonToxic, the Quiz fell upon hard times when the site went through transformation to become the current Myth.Bungie.Org.
Thanks to the tireless efforts and muted grumbling of the Tharsis Times staff, the quiz has fond a new home and is back in business. Scholars and lay persons alike are invited to test their knowledge of Myth: The Fallen Lords here.
